Art On the Square Athens, Al., Sept.11.
Art On the Square Arts Festival is Saturday, Sept 11, 2010, from 10 am until 4 pm, around the Courthouse, in downtown Athens . This year's festival promises to be more entertaining than ever. There will be approximately 50 visual artists including painters, sculptors, metal artists, photographers, ceramicists, fiber artists, jewelry artists, mixed media artists, and more. Savvy collectors are encouraged to come to the festival and see the quality and diversity represented at this year’s show. Performing arts will also be represented this year. Art On the Square is bringing a professional troupe of Irish Step dancers to Athens with bagpipes in tow. They will perform 2 shows during the festival on Sept 11. Also performing is a professional singer songwriter from Nashville, as well as lots of local musical talent, and all are encouraged to participate in a community drum circle. Kelly Kazek will be reading excerpts from her book and signing copies for those interested in Alabama’s deadliest tornadoes. The multi faceted KidsZone is always free and offers over 20 art activities for children. A rain location has been secured at Athens State University Gym.
