*** From the submissions received, 10 artists will be selected by BECA Foundation directors and advisors to participate in the upcoming annual group exhibition highlighting the best in contemporary art from the Gulf South Region. The past 2 Gulf South Exhibitions were visited both in person and online by thousands of collectors, curators, gallery and art institution directors as well as art lovers from around the world. Past press coverage has included The Gambit, The Times-Picayune New Orleans, Louisiana Homes & Gardens, CUE, Art Knowledge News, Absolute Arts and numerous blogs and social network outlets across the globe. Exhibiting artists will have their work published in both soft cover and hard cover editions of the publication, '3rd Annual Gulf South Regional'. Exhibiting artists will also receive Artist Feature coverage in a special edition e-publication which will be distributed to over 19,000 art critics and writers, curators, collectors and gallery directors in the US and abroad.

The BECA Foundation is pleased to present the '3rd Annual Gulf South Regional' exhibition of US southern contemporary art. This call to artists is for submissions of works for group exhibition featuring leading edge contemporary art by innovative emerging artists and also established artists exploring new ideas, mediums and/or processes from TX, LA, MS, AL and FL. Email and CD submissions will be accepted according to the guidelines listed below through January 16, 2010. Exhibition dates: February 6 - 27, 2010.

BECA is an acronym for Bridge for Emerging Contemporary Art and the core belief system at The BECA Foundation is that "New art + new design fuels the best of what's yet to come on this planet." The BECA Foundation's gallery space is located across the street from the Contemporary Arts Center in New Orleans in an 1100 square foot, beautifully renovated warehouse space situated in the heart of the New Orleans warehouse arts district. Our space exists as a place for innovative emerging contemporary art and design to grow and flourish in an environment that is accommodating to all.

ELIGIBILITY: This call is open to all artists at least 18 years of age residing in the states of TX, LA, MS, AL or FL. All works submitted must have been created within the last 2 years and must be original works or limited editions of no more than 10. All selected works must be made available for the duration of the exhibition. Accepted works and mediums for this Call include but are not limited to: site-specific installations, painting, sculpture, mixed-media, drawing, printmaking, fiber, textiles, illustration, digital art, photography, video/new media, performance art, music and sound focused works, 3D animation, etc. In other words, we are open to multiple forms of creative culminations. Submitted works of art are not required to conform to any particular theme, medium, style or concept. Concept drawings/descriptions for works not yet created will be accepted as long as the works will be delivered to the gallery in full completion by the works receive deadline of February 1, 2010. Submitted 2-D works of art may have a maximum height of 7' (84 inches) and a maximum width of 4' (48 inches). Submitted 3-D works of art suspended vertically or floor based may have maximum dimensions of 7' (84 inches)H x 4' (48 inches)W x 4' (48 inches)D. If suspended horizontally, 3-D works may have maximum dimensions of 3' (36 inches) H x 7' (84 inches) W x 3' (36 inches) D. Individual works may have a total maximum weight of 75 pounds.
