Energen Corporation to Hold 11th Annual Energen Art Competition

Energen Corporation is now accepting entries for its eleventh Energen Art Competition to be held in spring 2010. The art competition celebrates the Wonders of Alabama Art and features artists of the state by offering five purchase awards. The five winning entries will become part of the permanent “Alabama Collection” displayed at Energen Plaza, the company’s headquarters in Birmingham.
Purchase awards include a $7,500 Energen Grand Prize, and four $3,000 award categories including Alagasco Wildlife Division, Energen Resources Landscape Division, Merit Award for Non-representational Art and Employee Choice.
A portion of the proceeds will benefit The Crisis Center.
The competition is open to artists 18 years of age and older who currently reside in the state of Alabama or those who have lived in the state. Artwork must be original and must have been painted no more than three years prior to the date of the competition. Eligible work must be two-dimensional and in oil, acrylic, watercolor, pastels, pen and ink or mixed media. All artwork must measure no larger than 6 feet by 6 feet and be suitable for hanging.
Entries must be received by 5 p.m. on Feb. 19, 2010. All applicants must first submit a completed entry form and a CD containing an image of the artwork for preliminary judging and a $35 entry fee for each entry. There is a limit of three entries per artist. Entry forms, complete eligibility requirements, terms and conditions are availableonline.

Exhibition days for finalists will be held March 29 - April 11, 2010 at the Energen Plaza in Birmingham where final judging will occur.
