Portrait Painting Workshop 2010

Working with a live model, this 3-day workshop will begin with demonstrations involving:
- canvas preparation, materials usage, color mixture and basic layout and value description of the bust portrait
- general application using the portrait palette and employing the Alla Prima technique
- refinement, description of detail and other final steps in completing the Portrait
Following each demonstration, students will use the methods demonstrated to create their own successful portrait painting. The instructor will offer individualized instruction and critique throughout the workshop.
About the Artist:
Carpenter has been included in numerous exhibitions and publications such as the Centre International D’Art Contemporain in Paris, France and as a participant in a Salon des Nations Exhibition promoting independent American artists. Martha Carpenter has received awards from the “American Artist Magazine” National Portrait Competition, Portrait Society of America’s annual portrait competition and repeated “Top Ten” awards within agency affiliates.
